"Can you believe it? A baby, by just being born within an imaginary line, is faced with a barrier to go out of that line. Passports and visas are the racism of our times. They are against any kind of human rights and equality. There are State rights these days, not human rights. And instead of asking for them to be abolished, people are living in a hypnotized state of believing in states.

Even though the contemporary political world order has turned it into this... The Earth is not a place to be parceled into countries and forbidden to people who themselves, their parents or spouses have not been born there or let in on conditions. It is a land as a whole, to be lived and traveled on for some time and then buried under."

I'm a Turkish woman who has literally gone around the world three times and who has been to more than a 110 UN countries on a Turkish passport. I'm telling this only for you to understand where I am coming from. And that's not to mean the place I was born, but what I have been through with visas to travel all these countries.

I've had my share of humiliation and I've found it against human dignity to be asked for so much stuff in order to go some place on the world I was born, just because where I was born on it. I was made to jump endless meaningless hoops, I was made to go around like a rat in a maze.

Now I have double citizenship from my Italian husband and I no longer need to jump through so many hoops anymore, I am pretty much covered around the world. But this is not about me; things need to change for every human being.

I've been thinking theese things over the last six years and last year, setting out for my third around the world tour, I decided to open a website (gulin.world) and a twitter account to share my reflections with anyone who might be thinking or feeling the same. Since then, I've been trying to get this message through the best I could and I'll be going wherever this road takes me.

Again quoting myself, here is a story that might explain better how I see the state of the world we live in and what I expect it  to be one day.

"Planet Earth is a big zoo; Countries are the cages where the same kind of human species (Ethiopians, Italians, Brazilians etc.) are gathered; Borders are the fences of those cages to see that we are kept under custody; Customs officers are the wardens of those cages.

Governments are our shepherds, our owners basically, who have rights over us, imposing rules, regulations and laws way too far into personal lives; Citizenship is the governments' seal they cauterize us with at birth.

A Passport is “valuable” paper we need to pay for granting us permission to go out our zoocage. A Visa is the due we have to pay to present to the guardian of the cage we want to visit, a seal of approval we need to get to be temporarily let in on parole to another zoocage. Visas are the racism of our times.

Yes, visas are an institutionalized and worldwide accepted racism. “But the zoocage you are coming from has no agreements with our zoo- cage. Therefore, you will need to bring such and such documents and pay us this amount of money,” they say.

They reason like this: There lives deers, zebras and goats in the European zoo; they would get along. Therefore the European zoocages have an agreement with each other. Whereas there are lions in the zoocage of Turkey. If you come over here, you'd eat us. So we only accept those of you that have been tamed into our zoocage. You bring along your vaccination cards, your taming diplomas, and your bank statement, if your wallet is thick enough, and your documents are good enough, if we deem them adequate and see fit, we grant you a visa, you may get into our country for a while. You may substitute other countries or unions for Europe and Turkey and interchange the animals of countries with cats-dogs, cats-rats, birds-worms-caterpillars.

Only when the reality dawns on us that every single person living in all countries are people, human beings that is, that we all cry at least once, laugh at least once in life, that our basic needs are the same, only then will borders be abolished. It will perhaps be overnight like the Berlin Wall crumbled, or perhaps it will be slow and gradual.
Bets are on."

I will be going to every country in the world only to burn my passports even if not a single soul in this world cares about it. Yet, I'm sure there are people out there who care. I consider them as family. I'm curious as to how big a family I have. I would also like to meet my family members.
Many people are striving to change the world for the better in different areas. And if I have travelled so much and if there has been something that these travels have shown me, I feel sharing this would be my small contribution to the world and to a better future. I see that as my duty. And burning passports to protest this order of things/the status quo is a part of this task. I would like to find people who would support me materially and morally to help me spread this idea.
