Learning cooperatives (co-ops) have been a staple of homeschooling communities for generations! They're a great way for families and communities to come together to provide affordable access to extra-curricular activities!

During this unprecedented time, when many students are home and parents are at a loss for how to navigate virtual school and/or homeschool, the Hands-In Learning Co-op (HILCO) seeks to be an accessible source of engagement for students and a source of community and support for parents. 

Students can take an unlimited number of weekly classes each term! Each monthly cost is PER FAMILY NOT PER CHILD!! It's ridiculously affordable because we believe that the world is a better place when people from all backgrounds-rich and poor-learn and grow together! 

To maintain the safety of all participants, HILCO is a private community only accessible through a Patreon membership. Students will have the option to enroll in a variety of enrichment classes, and student-interest groups. Parents will have access to private support forums, parenting webinars, and virtual social gatherings for as long as their family membership is active. 

ABOUT RAI KING:
Over the course of her 16 years as an educator, Rai King has taught in nearly every way there is to teach. From public school to private, from charter school to parochial, international, and homeschool, Rai has taught everyone from preschoolers to adults in nearly every way there is to teach! 

Rai earned her B.A. in Early Childhood Development from Spelman College and began her teaching career in underserved neighborhoods in Atlanta, Georgia. A strong advocate for culturally relevant pedagogy, whether teaching in New York public schools, or South Central Los Angeles, Rai has spent her career focused on creating learning environments where children of color can excel and thrive.

After homeschooling her own children for six years, Rai returned to school herself and earned a Master of Arts in gifted education from Arizona State University. Rai has spent the last few years as an instructional coach, diversity director, and chief operating officer. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Leadership and Learning from Vanderbilt University.
