Who am i, and why i am here

Hi there! I'm Charles, an entrepreneur, designer, developer and illustrator.

I'm developing the Traduz o Jogo platform, which enables anyone to help translate not localized games. It supports any language, but currently the aim is to translate English games to Portuguese Brazilian language.

What do you need Patreon for?

The platform itself is completely free. I charge nothing for the users and anyone can use it. But, i do have expenses to maintain the platform online:

I need to pay the domain every year (R$40), the hosting every month (R$250) and also dedicate a lot of my time to develop new features, improve performance, correct bugs and also add new games to it. Your contribution will help me spend more time in the platform, add more games to be translated and of course, easy the burden on my pocket every month.

What is Traduz o Jogo?

Traduz o Jogo (aka: Translate the Game) is a semi-autonomous web based democratic translation platform. Wow, lot of words right? Let's break it down:

What do you mean by Semi-Autonomous?

The platform manages almost all aspects for the translation, apart from the translation itself. The platform manages the approval of translations, the vocabulary, helps suggesting translations for every line, alerts when there is things you must not change within that string of text and it even generates the final files of the translation, ready to use.

What do you mean by Democratic?

Every text line in the platform can be translated by anyone that has a account in the platform. To prevent bad translations, every suggestion of translation sent by the community, need to receives 5 votes from other 5 people so the translation of that line is approved and included in the final translated file.

This way, any person can suggest translation to any line, be it approved, not translated or pending. This enables for an infinite improvement of the quality of translations. The translation is never closed.

For example, if you find an approved translation with error, or you want to improve it, you can, then you just need 5 votes and the line will replace the old approved translation.

The same mechanics works within the Vocabulary Section.

Who can translate? What do i need to start helping translating?

Anyone! And the good news is that you don't need any type of technical knowledge to help translate. You just need to know a little bit of the language of origin to localize the game to the current used language. The platform has a easy to use interface, combined with helpers along the way to assist you on how everything works.

When you click in a text line, the popup will allow you to see the current original text, if there is any approved translation, and provide you with a text box so you can suggest a translation for that line.

The platform provides you with helpers, quick link to the vocabulary and also a google translate suggestion for that line for quick reference. Everything to help speed up the process.

What if i have questions about how something works?

Almost all popups and screens have the (?) question mark icon, where you can hover the mouse to get some info about any feature.

That's a brief overview of the platform. You can check it out here: http://traduzojogo.com.br

I'm constantly updating the platform and working on add new games that are not being translated by groups like GameVicio or TriboGamer. Feel free to comment any new games that you want to see translated and i'm going to do my best to allow it in the platform.

As you can see, now we have 2 games, Divinity Original Sin 2 and Feel The Snow. I'm trying to get more Indie games to be translated, so we can help the indie community grow and reach more countries. As a game developer myself, i do know how hard it is to reach people that don't have the knowledge on my native language, so i really do help that with this platform, more and more people can enjoy those games like they deserved to be played.

That's for now! Thanks for taking the time to come see my patreon page, and enjoy the content!
