About Stephanie Cooke

Hey there! My name is Stephanie! I’m an award-nominated comic book writer and editor based out of Toronto, Canada. I'm a comic book fan, avid gamer, movie watcher, and lover of puns. I am a purveyor of too many projects and thrive in chaos. My writing work is featured in Mark Millar’s Millarworld Annual, Wayward Sisters: A Monstrous Anthology, The Secret Loves of Geek Girls, Toronto Comics Anthology, and more.

I'm also a crazy cat lady who happens to be terribly allergic to cats. As such, I settle for having just the one (very snuggly) cat and take a lot of allergy medication.

My debut graphic novel, Oh My Gods!, is out now from HMH Kids, followed by ParaNorthern in July 2021 and a sequel to Oh My Gods! in January 2022. My first YA graphic novel, Pillow Talk, will be out Fall 2023.

And here are some other fun things about me:
  • I also edit comic books and graphic novels. Most recently I wrapped up my work on Tartarus for Image Comics. I was the editor on We Are The Danger for Black Mask Studios. I edit Leisha Riddel’s #ProjectSolace, and I was the Lead Editor for Toronto Comics Anthology Vol. 5. And more projects that you’ll be hearing about very soon.
  • I founded and run Creator Resource (which is exactly what it sounds like…a site with tools and resources for creators who want to learn more about the industry) and Creator Advisor (which is essentially a free service where I help pair creators up with collaborators on paid projects…like if a writer needs an artist!).
  • I wrote a 6-episode original radio drama with a group of amazing people called “The 5 People You Meet In Hell”. We performed each episode in front of a live-studio audience, recorded it and then produced the show to release as a podcast. All of it is available to listen to here. It's a bit old now but I'm still very proud of it.
Patreon is an amazing way to accomplish what I want to do and to reward those who see the potential in me for great things that I can bring the world. I'm not setting out to cure cancer or solve world hunger, but I think I might be able to make you guys smile from time to time and I think that's something worth doing.

So if you feel like contributing a dollar or two to helping me make my creative dreams a reality, it would mean the world to me.

Hire an artist for a new comics project - look, I don't want to be that person who asks a creator to work for free. I just don't. I want to have the funds up front to pay a creator to work on a cool thing with me. I have quite a few projects that need artists and as soon as I have some money for them, I'll reach out to get the ball rolling.
