About The Hero Workshop

The Hero Workshop is an interactive storytelling workshop aimed at children aged 8-18. In the Hero Workshop, we learn about Interactive Storytelling and Role Playing Games. Everyone in the group will design their own Hero by thinking deeply about what it is that makes someone a hero, and what kind of powers they would like their hero to have. Then we will learn about creating an adventure, and take our Heroes on an imaginative adventure using the fantasy worlds of Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition ruleset.

Here are a list of concepts that students are exposed to in the Hero Workshop:

The Hero's Journey
What makes a Hero?
Cartography (map-making, and map-reading)
Basic Math and Statistics
Basic Algebra
Logic Puzzles in games
Making decisions as a group, and cooperation
Role Playing Game Design
What makes a Scenario interesting?
