Hi, I'm Hillel! I write about software. You might know me from <a href="https://learntla.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Learn TLA+</a> or the <a href="https://alloy.readthedocs.io/en/latest/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Alloydocs</a>, where I make formal methods accessible and useful to everyday software engineers. Or you might know me from the <a href="https://www.hillelwayne.com/tags/crossover-project/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Crossover Project</a>, where I interviewed 17 "crossover" engineers to learn how software development fields into the engineering disciplines. Or you might just read <a href="https://www.hillelwayne.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">my blog</a> and follow <a href="https://buttondown.email/hillelwayne/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">my newsletter</a>, where I've written a over half a million (!!) words on the history, philosophy, and practice of software engineering.In short, I write a lot! And it's all free, because I want to share what I've learned with everyone. Currently I support myself with consulting gigs. If I can get enough revenue from subscribers, I can spend less time hunting for freelance work and more time writing.I don't yet know what I'll be offering in return for your patronage. At the very least, I can put project updates, posts I never got around to finishing, and thoughts on my essays. I'm open to hearing other ideas, too! I should be honest though and disclose that I'm seeing this more as a patronage thing than a service-in-kind. You will not get your "money's worth" by subscribing to the Patreon; this is aimed more at people who've liked my work for years and want an easy way to support me.
