About

Hello! I'm Scott Allsop, and I've been creating the HistoryPod 'on this day' podcast and video series since April 2015!

As a full-time history teacher and history graduate of the University of Cambridge, I love to find and share fascinating stories from our past. It's clear that people like listening to them, too! HistoryPod consistently features among the top iTunes history and education podcasts, and has found a sizable community of inquiring and passionate lovers of history.

I'm determined that the podcast will always be free to download, but increasing listener numbers mean increasing costs for things such as web servers, software subscriptions and equipment. As HistoryPod enters its fourth year, it is also necessary to spend more money and more time buying and reading books and other reference materials to ensure that each episode continues to be well-researched and accurate.

It's with this in mind that HistoryPod is now on Patreon, in order to give people who enjoy the daily podcast the chance to contribute to its continuation. If you like what you hear, please consider becoming a patron - I truly appreciate every penny of support.

I love creating HistoryPod, and I hope that with a little bit of help from you lovely people I will be able to continue doing so for a long time!

Goals
$66 of $125 per month
Better equipment, better sound!

I currently record the podcast in a homemade 'studio' consisting of fabric sheets hung within a simple wooden box frame. Meeting this goal will enable me to build a better sound-proofed space and purchase a new audio interface to improve the recording quality. As an added bonus for my kids, they will no longer have to stay really quiet when I'm recording!
