About

Homoground is queer podcast using multimedia as a platform to increase the visibility of queer musicians. "Billed with the tagline 'Same Ground, Different Sound,' the queer music podcast has become a lighthouse for bands, events and organizations that fly under the radar of mainstream publications—a tactic that’s made it a formative incubator for queer talent. More than 1,000 bands across the LGBTQIA spectrum have found a home on  Homoground’s airwaves and, as the show evolves, so too has its spread." - Out Magazine

"Homoground is a poignant and timely podcast unearthing some of the best underground and undiscovered queer and trans musicians. Run by Lynn Casper and based out of Brooklyn, the podcast’s first episode aired in January 2011 and has quickly become a favorite of the queer community. “The dream is to become the Queer version of MTV,” Casper says. And they aren’t too far off from their goal. The podcast reaches people all over the globe who are looking for a connection to fellow queer music lovers. And many of the bands featured on the show share raw and honesty truths about their struggles in wanting to get their music out there." - Go Magazine

This DIY podcast is volunteer run and financed by the same people who work to create it, with additional help from generous sponsors. But getting consistent sponsors isn't always easy, which is why we have launched this Patreon - to give people a way to support Homoground financially if they are able.

We are a community of creators and musicians. The work that we do isn't always recognized, but that doesn't make it any less important from mainstream work that does get recognized, which is why its important for us to create our own economies and support networks. If we don't create these platforms for our community, who will?

"Homoground is such an important project, not only because sharing is caring and everyone needs great music in their lives, but because for queer kids who feel alone, confused or abandoned, the website fosters inclusion and builds community." - AfterEllen.com

"As someone who identifies as queer and prefers music not really played on mainstream/pop radio this podcast is an absolute delight! Also, I've found that discovering queer artists by word of mouth isn't actually that easy to do so coming to this podcast I feel I've discovered a hidden treasure chest. Thank you so much to the creators." - By The Dude Abides 95 - Apr 06 2019
