At howtherapyworks.com we have built a safe place to explore the experience of psychotherapy and to talk about strong feelings that can arise. As the site has grown and become ever more active, I want to ask your help in continuing to make these articles (and more to come) available to clients and therapists around the world without cost. Let me explain why this is so important.

From 2010 to 2030, the world's middle class population is expected to double. One result will be numbers of people whose concerns in life will turn from survival to improving the quality of life, healing emotional wounds, and helping their children grow up resilient and healthy. Millions will be seeking psychotherapy and some will find a calling to become therapists, themselves. The world is far from ready. The teaching of psychotherapy is still rooted in competing schools and incompatible theories. My vision is to help make therapy more understandable for clients and therapists. That's why it is so important to continue providing the information on this site free of charge.

So I am asking each of you, clients and therapists, to consider becoming a patron of this creative work. In doing so, you will help make the world a place of greater peace and harmony.

As a bonus and reward for those who contribute the most substantial support, I am proposing a monthly conference call to discuss issues and get to know each other and myself.

Thank you all,
Jeffery S. Smith MD

Goals
2 of 50 patrons
It's a modest goal, but our community is still small. This will be enough to increase the rate of posts and give more answers to your comments. And I'm counting on all of you to get the word out and to keep telling me what you would like to see in on howtherapyworks.com
