Humble Knit produces humble and minimalist yarns, inspired by nostalgia and the bittersweetness of memories of past emotion. Through my yarns, writing, and teaching, I am always hoping to evoke histories of daily craft, slow labour, the importance of repairing our textiles, and of sustainable consumption.

Our clothes become our skin, our shell, our conversation with a vast world. We may now have the privilege to do for pleasure what previous generations did out of necessity, but at the same time I have a firm belief in our responsibility to be more aware of our clothing, wear it comes from, and the resources involved in getting it onto our bodies.

I am fascinated by the way personal memories can open relationships with strangers through shared moments and pasts. My studies in archiving and the knitwear industry have encouraged me to push my craft further, out of the "merely" domestic arena into avenues of research and practice that reflect on the nature of craft and labour.

I created this page to share my explorations, tips, and tricks with you - you'll find a bit of everything, from essays and research to knitting tips and how to choose the right yarn. If you are interested in craft history, sustainability, and how to knit garments that work for you - you're in the right place! Thank you for joining me!

Je vais aussi publier régulièrement en français et je vous encourage de communiquer avec moi en français si cela vous est plus confortable !
