ICNerd - What does that even mean? Honestly, it doesn't. I wanted a domain with "nerd" in it and the prefix IC was the shortest and easiest to pronounce. It also sounds like "I see, nerd" or possibly even "Icy Nerd" (Yes, I had to also register the domains iseenerd.com and icynerd.com to thwart confusion!)

Me personally? Oh well I'm Cohan Robinson. I've got just over a decade under my belt in dabbling in web software and have managed to make it a day job after a few stints at college didn't really tickle my fancy.

So what's this brand and by extension Patreon about? I like to make things in my spare time. Web things. Laravel (PHP) things mostly. Sometimes they'll be web apps you can use yourself, either open source or sold through codecanyon. Sometimes they'll be the more SaaS style thing. In any case if they're under the ICNerd branding you know you'll be able to watch their development process on Twitch or the vods over on YouTube.

The Patreon? Well if the Patreon can pay for the time and software costs to make the streams/videos then there's no need to then make money off the software itself. Skip the canyon, skip the SaaS - it's all Open Source-able! By that I mean any software developed during a time the "Open Source" goal is reached we'll instead slap an MIT (or closest compatible) license on it and release it to the world to use when it's done.

Thank you from the nerdiest depths of my noggin for checking out the Patreon even if it's just to pop over here to see what I waffled on about in the About section. Any support is hugely appreciated and will keep this little project alive.

We're in Comma Country

Hitting that first comma means everything created during this time will be released open source with an MIT (or closest equivalent) license.

With no need to make any cash off the software directly to support the videos and streams, there's no need to turn them into actual services! I'll release the code as close to both "Free as in beer" and "Free as in speech" as possible so that you folks can do that bit!
