Since 2011, I Die: You Die has been providing thoughtful commentary on industrial and related musics in the form of reviews, interviews, podcasts, and much more. In that time, ID:UD has become a trusted source for opinions and discussion of marginalized and often ignored dark music genres, with thousands of monthly readers and listeners worldwide. It's been a labour of love for Bruce Lord and Alex Kennedy, one that has in turn been fed by the sincere passion of our audience for this music.

We've always maintained a firm belief that sponsorship wasn't a road we wanted to go down with I Die: You Die. It is our belief our objectivity and credibility would be compromised by advertising. Consequently, hosting, equipment and other incidental costs have always been paid out of pocket.

Our goal with starting a Patreon is twofold; firstly, we'd like to defray some of the ongoing costs of running the site, and secondly, we'd like to secure some funds we can put towards things like redesigning the site, upgrading our podcasting gear, and paying some contributors for their efforts. We're not asking folks to pick up the tab for those endeavours entirely: these are things we've been working towards for a while and we're hoping a bit of extra cash would help us achieve them in a more timely fashion.

I Die: You Die will never enact a paywall or feature any ads on our site, and We Have a Technical will always be free for anyone what wants to hear it. What we're asking is that if you have enjoyed what we do, and have an interest in helping us take I Die: You Die to a new level, consider giving us a hand in whatever amount seems reasonable to you. Even a dollar a month is appreciated, and will net you some special rewards for Patreon backers only!
Tiers
Pledge $1 or more per month
A shout out on We Have a Technical, the I Die: You Die podcast! We'll give you a holler, and mention your website, band or a project of your choice. Additionally, you'll get access to Patreon backer polls where we'll be asking you to help us decide what albums will be selected for our commentary podcasts.
Pledge $2 or more per month
Everything at the $1 level, and you'll get access to a monthly mini-cast for Patreon backers where we go over some interesting songs and records that came to our attention that month. Great for folks who don't have time to keep up with our regular reviews and Tracks features.
Pledge $5 or more per month
Be a guest on a special episode of We Have a Technical! We will be producing a special episode of the podcast where we Skype with our Patreon backers at this level to talk about a record or band of your choice. These will be produced bi-annually, or more frequently if enough people sign up for the reward. (NB: Please don't use this as an means of hyping your band or your friends'; this is for conversation, not plugging.)
Pledge $10 or more per month
In addition to the rewards from the other tiers, Alex and Bruce will send you a Bandcamp release twice annually! We will select a record and send it your way via e-mail, based on your preferences and collection! Think of it as a way to support I Die: You Die and a band simultaneously!

(Bandcamp releases will be purchased for $10 or the price of the release you are sent, whichever is more).

At $400 we're gonna be sending out a new ID:UD merch item annually to all patrons, regardless of tier, FREE. We've just dipped our toe into this pool and found the temperature to our liking, and would like to make it a regular thing. So if we hit this amount of money per month, we'll be making a point of making a cool high quality piece of merch and sending it to current patrons in the Fall of each year. Did we mention this'll be free to all? Yeah.
