My name is David Garcia. I’m from New York. I’ve been involved with football since I was 6 years old. Eventually, my playing career led me to coaching. I won’t bore you with details (you can read about my journey here) but in 2013 after meeting three Spanish coaches from Granada, I moved to Spain in search of greener pastures. Three years later, I had countless notebooks, documents, and power points filled with information I had gathered from having closely worked with some of the brightest minds in the game. Not to mention, the unforgettable insight from training sessions, classes, and coffee talks. I needed to organize all of these thoughts and ideas in order to create my own clear and coherent ideology. That was the birth of It’s Just a Sport.

It’s Just a Sport was built on the premise that football, and everything it entails, must respect all of its aspects (biological, psychological, and physical) at all levels. Our aim is to motivate, inspire, educate, and entertain, by providing the necessary theoretical and practical tools. I believe football mirrors life and in order to further understand all of its components, we must make connections to the world we live in. It’s not enough to limit ourselves to the boundaries of our sport, but we must gather the wisdom from other crafts to further cultivate our understanding of our own.

Due to the nature of the work I’d like to produce, the process requires exhaustive research which can be time consuming. This limits the number of posts I can do per month. I think people appreciate the content because it's always getting better, and so I strive to deliver more insightful material with every post. And since I'm not really interested in hiring people to research or write for me, the only variable I have is time. I'm excited to see what I can create with more of it.

It’s Just a Sport is run by two people; my wife, who selflessly gives up her time to design and maintain everything that goes into the content and website, and myself. Currently, the sole income from the website is you, the Patrons. For this reason, we are asking for your help!

Thank you! It’s Just a Sport would not be possible without your help. Like I said before, patrons keep us going. I want It’s Just a Sport to be something special. I want it to be the piece of writing you look forward to every week. Since the start, we've tried to improve, redesign and go further in what we deliver. I'm interested in how we, as a collective of football enthusiasts, can push further and begin the paradigmatic revolution the game deserves. Thank you so much for your help. Creating this website has been my passion since its conception and I won't stop trying to inspire you with every post.
