I’m a bisexual nonbinary food writer, blogger, and zine author covering the intersections of gender, sexuality, and food.

In 2016, I changed up my blog format to focus less on rolling out recipes quickly and more on food, social justice, and queerness. It takes a lot more time and energy to write these posts, which means I don't post as much and don't get as many views on my ads (which already don't earn enough to pay out). The blog will always be free for everyone, but I'd love your help to be able to bring queer cooking and food culture to you on a wider scale.

New to my work?
1. I write queer zines! In 2017, I co-wrote The Corners of Their Mouth: A Queer Food Zine with my partner Robin Elan, and in Fall 2018 we printed The Queer Language of Flowers, a queer homage of Victorian flower dictionaries. In 2019, we're going to print The Corners of Their Mouth 2 (featuring three guest writers!) and I'll be working on a couple solo projects about being a nonbinary swimmer and a nonbinary femme.

2. I bake queer and geeky cakes! Here is one example of a very queer cake I made, a Twin-Peaks inspired pie and cocktail, and a NBC Hannibal-themed anatomical heart cake. I'm currently working on a series of cakes based on quotes from The Room.

3. I write essays about food and gender. Here's an article on queerbaiting with tea branding, and my essay on queer identity and Midwestern food appeared in
Comestible Issue 7. I also have articles forthcoming in Dinner Bell and GRLSQUASH in 2019.

Your patronage provides the following:
  1. Domain costs for my website ($26/year): update: thank you for covering me in 2018 and 2019!
  2. Support toward the cost of printing future zines like Drag Suit and Nonbinary Femme Dandy. (Local printers and Kinkos both cost ~$300 for one run, and I try to give my printing jobs to local printers.) Patrons paid 1/6 of our printing costs for The Queer Language of Flowers! Because we're an indie press, I contribute half of the reprinting funds out of my own pocket and any profits we make.
  3. Help me and Robin turn The Corners of Their Mouth into a zine series with contributors who get paid. Update: The Corners of Their Mouth 2 is in pre-production thanks to Kickstarter and Patrons!
  4. Help me buy ingredients to test and tweak recipes so you get the best cooking experience on my blog and in print.
  5. Send us to cons (vendor fee, business license, transportation). We've attended Death Rattle 2017, Fall For Zines 2018, Spring for Zines 2019, Geek Girl Con 2017-18, and Scream! for Queer Art March 2019 in the past. This year we will be at Olympia Comics Fest and have applications submitted to several other events/cons.
