Started in 2015 as a small hobby project for personal needs INAV grew into something bigger - an entry-level autopilot for R/C enthusiast community. In 2017 we breached the limit of 30K users over last 12 months:
Designed to run on a large variety of hardware it can fly almost anything that flies - from a small R/C airplane to a big hexacopter drone. While using a cheapest possible hardware it still offers a lot of cool features:
- Return to launch both by pilot command and R/C link loss
- Hold position and altitude modes
- Waypoint autonomous flight
- Flight stabilisation and guidance
- Built-in OSD on certain flight controller boards
Moreover, INAV is 100% open source, meaning you don't get any hidden or proprietary code there and if you have the skill you can always go and improve the software yourself without being dependent on a manufacturer.
Why setting up a Patron account?
Have you ever seen a good project stalling, slowing development and eventually becoming history? This happens to hundreds of good creations each day.
As you can imagine, working on INAV takes a lot of effort. Development of new functionality, maintenance, bug fixing, testing, release preparations, reviews of contributed code and such is already a full time job when done right, and that even leaves out other tasks like writing documentation, community management etc. And that’s not even counting for costs of hardware to test the code.
Also, I would appreciate being able to reward and support those awesome people who are the core of INAV small but very active development team, who spend their time and effort to make INAV better, safer and more robust.
Don’t get me wrong, I really love improving INAV and I want to continue doing it and be involved as much as possible! But it’s hard to manage this ever growing project next to a paying full-time job. So now I’m asking for your help to allow me to stay involved with INAV as much as I am now!
How can you help?
If you enjoy flying R/C aircrafts and find autopilots useful, then consider contributing a few bucks.
I believe that you are on this page because you like flying as I do, so please make a donation and help me to keep the INAV Autopilot flying.
Thank you and happy flying!
