About

Integrated Schools is more than just a podcast, it's a growing grassroots movement of, by and for parents who are intentionally, joyfully and humbly enrolling their children in integrating schools.  In addition to our podcast, we also have local chapters, a Parent-to-Parent program, online book clubs, an active Facebook group, and the Two-Tour Pledge.  All of this work is volunteer led with the goal of supporting, educating, developing and mobilizing families to disrupt segregation, live our values, and leverage our choices for the well-being and futures for our own children, for all children, and for our democracy.

But finding our way out of the ways we think about parenting and race requires a lot of work – narratives to unwind and examine, unfamiliar stories to tell, feelings to work through. And we thought that a podcast would be a powerful way to do this. With the support of the Integrated Schools Board of Directors and Parent Advisors, Andrew and Courtney took this project on and, well, here we are. We have been overwhelmed, humbled, and excited by the interest our podcast has generated. We have screwed up plenty along the way, but we have learned a tremendous amount, and we are excited to embark on a new chapter in the Integrated Schools Podcast.

If you care about a multiracial democracy and if you believe that public schools are an important piece of this work, this is where you come in. We need your support - this has been a volunteer effort and as our podcast is growing, and our desire to tell more stories and tell them better has grown, our costs have gone up.  We aren't interested in trying to sell you toothbrushes in the middle of our episodes, and we'd like to find new ways to engage with you, our listeners.  And so, here's our Patreon.

Our hope is to cover the costs of hosting, remote recording software, and promotion, while also creating a new space to engage with you. We have a lot planned, but we also want to hear what you want.  What would add value to these conversations for you?  What would help you engage more deeply? Join our Patreon, and let us know.

As always, we're grateful to be in this with you as we try to know better and do better.

Courtney and Andrew
