About Into The Spine
Into The Spine was born in early 2018 as a place to share stories around video games and what they leave behind. Dozens of both established and completely new writers have contributed to the site through paid commissions. Along with offering feedback, we also support them after the whole process is finished, recommending places to keep pitching to, refining emails, and much more. You can visit the site here https://intothespine.com/
Hi, I'm Diego. I've been writing about games for over four years now, and freelancing since 2017. Back when I started, sites like Haywire Magazine and Critical Distance helped me to get a general sense of what was about to come, but it was the support of other fellow freelancers that encouraged me to start pitching.
I want Spine to be that place and join many excellent independent sites in the mission of giving a voice to new and underrepresented voices, regardless of gender, background, and language.
The site has grown exponentially in its brief life span, and it's become clear that I can't do this on my own anymore. All donations will go towards commissions, and over time, I'd love to offer competitive rates to those coming to our way, along with reaching out to folks with work.
Ideally, I'll be joined by other freelancers who will help me to co-edit, but I won't be doing this without having funds to pay them as well.
You'll find a couple of examples of the stuff we've published so far below:

There's a lot planned for the future, and we would love for you to be a part of it. Even the smallest contribution can make a difference, and before you ask, we will never hide our knowledge behind a paywall. Always feel free to reach out for guidance or just a general question.
Thanks to everyone who has been supporting us, Into The Spine would not be the same without you.
