As life goes by, the more we find that it never goes as we planned. I'm sure each of you had a dream back when you were a teenager of what life was going to be like. You'd graduate high school, maybe graduate college, start some sort of career, get married?

Then real life hit you and it seems to be kicking you while you're down.

A lot of my stories have this theme, I feel like. I share this with my characters, life beats you down, but as one butler who taught a man how to be a legend with a cape said, "Why do we fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves up."

In fact, the present two series I am working on right now has this idea in mind. Of course, the main issue with life that I don't share with my characters in either series is Immortality. These people have hundreds of years to pull themselves up. But no matter how much time we are given on this earth, I think the main lesson should be, Keep going, you'll figure things out. Never quit. I know those sound cliche, but it is still so true. So very true.

As a fiction writer, this is one of the many things I want to share with the world. I believe that's what any fiction story is about. Like one author said, Fairy tales aren't real because they teach us dragons exist. Fairy tales are real because they teach us: dragons can be beaten.
