Hello everyone!

My name is Erik Manning. Thanks for checking out my Patreon page. I'm a let's get down to brass tacks guy, so here we go:

Years ago I started to blog about my favorite sport: baseball. I absolutely loved it and even had a few things published on ESPN.com. I started to think it could be a serious thing.

But it was a time-consuming thing. And I was really involved with my church, my wife and I had four kids, and I had to make a living. I thought I was just wasting my time pursuing a crazy dream. I'm also a bit of a theology and history geek.

So where did Christian apologetics come into the picture?

Several years ago, I had some co-worker friends grill me about my Christian faith one day. I always thought I was good at communicating my beliefs, but they shot me to shreds. I realized I had to learn how to defend my faith or I'd just stand no chance of sharing it with others.

So I read books, listened to podcasts, took some free college courses, joined different Facebook groups and basically anything I could do to learn apologetics. I didn't want to fail in that area again. I even thankfully found a mentor (Dr. Tim McGrew) who helped me to grow a lot in this area, although I know I still have a ton to learn.

Here's the thing though: I never put this learning to much use, other than in the occasional conversation.

Fast-forward to today: In spending time with God, I sensed the Holy Spirit challenge me to start a blog and share what I've learned about apologetics. He reminded me of my writing days. He also showed me I had some experience in training and writing curriculum from a previous job.

I had a knack for these things, but I wasn't putting them to good use. I believe He was telling me to use my talents for his Kingdom. So in October of 2018, I launched isjesusalive.com. I figured no one would read it but at least I'd learn and grow in my ability to write and communicate.

Welp, since then I've had some apologetics luminaries (or at least I'd consider them to be) like Lee Strobel, J Warner Wallace, Clay Jones, Travis Dickenson, and others share my posts. I've had my writings featured on Frank Turek's CrossExamined.org and reasonsforjesus.com

I've had Bible school teachers in foreign countries email me and ask if I had any curriculum I've put together that they could use.

OK, God. I get it. You win.

I say all this to let you know that I feel called in this area. I'm dedicated to it. I have a lot to learn but I have a voracious appetite to grow and improve.

While I'm still a relative newcomer, I'd like to invite you in help supporting a ministry starting on the ground floor.

Website:

isjesusalive.com reaches all over the world. About 15-20% of my traffic comes from outside the United States. I average 6,000 visits per month and have reached up to 14,000 in April of 2019.

The website is a digital tract that is designed so that you can easily share the historical evidence for the resurrection.

The website also contains a blog, where I write 1-2 times per week. These blog posts defend the Bible's message, historical reliability, the existence of God, as well as common objections to the Christian faith.

I also am excited to announce that I'll be writing for Frank Turek's CrossExamined.org's blog twice a month, which will help me reach even further.

YouTube

I just started my channel and released my first video. But I'm all-in on YouTube. This is a huge mission field. There are dozens of skeptical and atheistic channels who are committed to trying to debunk Christianity.

Many of these channels get millions of views, and that's not stretching it. I'm thinking of two channels alone created by skeptics that have received 30 million combined views and have combined 500k subscribers.

While there are a handful of awesome Christian apologetics channels out there, we are currently vastly outmanned and outgunned.

My goal is to respond to many of these videos, one new video every two weeks.

Public Speaking

I'm slated to speak at the Growing Deeper Roots conference in Kalamazoo, MI this October.

Your generous support will help:

Traveling expenses for upcoming speaking events
Hosting costs
Domain renewals
Theme renewals
Site-building tools
New laptop (currently my laptop is 7 years old)
New and improved video equipment
Books and materials for further education
Internet expenses
And just some extra groceries and bills, let's just keep it real!

You can also do a one-time donation here: https://www.paypal.me/isjesusalive

When we think of missions, we think of reaching people overseas with the gospel. And we should absolutely give generously to that. But apologetics ministries, especially here in the west where pluralism and secularism continue to spread, are vital. Especially in this digital age where Millenials and Gen Z are glued to their phones and computers. Your support could have a vast ripple effect!

Thanks for your prayers and generosity, and I'm dedicated to giving my Patrons some pretty cool benefits, like early access, expanded notes, exclusive blog posts, and other great exclusive content. I'm here to help equip you any way I can!
