Dear Patrons,

My name is Ivan Dikov, and I am asking you to support me to become an independent full-time journalist with my two projects – which are causes, really! – PaxGlocalica.com and ArchaeologyinBulgaria.com.

Your support would be invaluable as it would allow me to work independently and with integrity to put forth my ideas, views, analyses, and coverage in order to contribute globally and locally towards greater understanding, knowledge, freedom, and peace.

Although I’ve been taking non-journalistic jobs for more than a couple of years now (largely out of disgust with media conditions in my native country and beyond), I am what I am, a free, unaffiliated journalist.

I am based in Sofia (despite the smog), originally fromrural North Bulgaria.

I’ve studied political science / international relations and history at by far the best college in Grafton County, NH, and in the Eastern Balkans (that is a thing).

I served for five years as the editor-in-chief of Bulgaria’s largest English-language media (that, too, is a thing). (In fact,my tenure there was so successful that I ended up on WikiLeaks.)

I have collaborated with media from the US, the UK, Germany, and Australia.

I am the founder and chief editor of ArchaeologyinBulgaria.com (because Bulgaria’s archaeology and history boast a gazillion stories worthy of being botched by Hollywood), the now dormant BulgarianPolitics.com (because Bulgarian politics is a political thriller in its own right) which I might relaunch, and now of PaxGlocalica.com (because the world has been glocalized for a while now, and it’s glocalizing still).

I enjoy “general hanging out” (which is a quote by a college professor I really liked but who didn’t really like me back as much for some reason).

I split my free time (if any) between coming up with solutions for Bulgaria and coming up with solutions for the World.

Most of my solutions might never be realized because that is how both Bulgaria and the World operate – but they sure, or hopefully, make for a good read.

Or perhaps at least the most worthy of them might be realized thanks to your support.

I am asking you to support me to become a full-time journalist for two projects – PaxGlocalica.com (officially launched in January 2018 although it does feature earlier stories) and ArchaeologyinBulgaria.com (launched as a hobby at the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015, and grown substantially since then).

In a nutshell, Pax Glocalica is a vision for a world at peace with itself seeking to combine considerations of the global and local level, rather than prioritizing one over the other.

That is likely the best approach to understanding the world of our time in which the trends of universalization and particularization are growing stronger simultaneously, intertwined in an ever more complex spiral, rather than one eclipsing and dominating the other.

Thus, Pax Glocalica is seeking insights into an ever more glocalizing world, but with unending hope of peace and freedom! (Learn more here, including why the name Pax Glocalica!)

ArchaeologyinBulgaria.com was set up in order to reveal to the world Bulgaria’s truly amazing but very little known archaeological, historical, and cultural heritage. (Learn more here, including why Bulgaria is still a treasure to be discovered!)

Having registered its 1 millionth visit at the end of January 2018, it is yet to achieve a lot more in that regard. It now also seeks to explore further the human – Earth connection, namely, how the evolution of human history is interacting with nature and the grave environmental challenges of our time.

My pledge to you, prospective and current Patrons, is to never censor myself to your liking.

Because if I do, this whole thing would be completely pointless.

So I am looking for a voltairesque support from you.

You know,

“I don’t agree with what you have to say but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”

Now there is a dispute if it was Voltaire who actually said that but whoever said it, they were a moral genius.

No journalist can subscribe to a political ideology if they are indeed a journalist. That’s why you might find my writings liberal on some issues, conservative on others, moderate on still others. I do like classical liberalism but I still wouldn’t let any ideology define my work.

I strive for visionary common sense. And integrity.

That is why I hope you will support me in my causes Pax Glocalica and ArchaeologyinBulgaria!

Your support and contributions will allow me to start working full time on both of these causes (as opposed to whenever I can - nights, breaks, weekends, etc.), make them more professional and in-depth, and maybe eventually have other journalists join me!

I firmly believe that the causes enshrined in these projects are worthy, and, hopefully, so will you!

You support and contributions are unbelievably appreciated!

Ivan
