Renting venue spaces, paying speaker fees, paying workshop facilitators, flying folks in from other areas and putting them up in hotels. All these things cost money. To recoup those expenses from ticket sales alone would require prices higher than our commitment to a barrier-free member experience, would allow for.

With no fees for membership, IxDA relies on its passionate members and partners to help serve the needs of the international Interaction Design community. With more than 70,000 members and over 170 local groups around the world, the IxDA network actively focuses on interaction design issues for the practitioner, no matter their level of experience.

We believe that the human condition is increasingly challenged by poor experiences. IxDA is committed to improving the human condition by advancing the discipline of Interaction Design. To do this, we foster a
community of people that choose to come together to support this intention.

IxDA was founded in 2003 and incorporated as a not-for-profit in late 2005.  IxDA's Portland, Oregon chapter is a registered 501(c)6 with the IRS.
