About Jackson Tegu

Hi, I'm Jackson Tegu! I make weird, silly, beautiful shared-creativity games. Some tabletop, some live-action walking-around games, some conversations to be had with online tools, etc.

Many of my games are small. They're tightly-focused and presented so that they're easy to learn – some are learned as you play, where reading the rules is part of the game. Some of my games are experimental. I use them to hammer out new concepts, and they might be more interesting as thought experiments than play experiences. Many of my games come from a desire to open an emotional space for players to step into.

"Jackson Tegu's passion, compassion, and wide variety of endeavors have been a blessing to the creative communities of the Pacific Northwest for many years and have now grown potent enough that they can no longer be contained by mere geography."
- Jonathan Walton, creator of The Planarch Codex and Metrofinal

"Jackson's games have made my life better. His design ideas are inspiring and accessible, the sort that bring people closer together through play. I'm so delighted that he's now putting more of his work out there."
- Avery Alder, creator of Monsterhearts and The Quiet Year

"I really love [the game designs of] Jackson Tegu because every new thing is different, not just from each other, but from everything else. It's like every new game he offers provides a view into a different universe."
- Moyra Turkington, creator of War Birds and Run Them Again

"Hopefully you are learning to pay close attention to Jackson Tegu."
- Jason Morningstar, creator of Fiasco and Night Witches

It's easy to recognize certain threads through my projects - that all people should be treated with respect and dignity, that those affected should be consulted, and that wonder can be found through fruitful juxtaposition and by drawing on what's outside of the frame.

Oh, I have a website. But I update my Patreon page more frequently!

It's May 2021 and I'm shaking up how I make my art and the form that my creations take. During this month I'll be discovering what feels best, but what I know for sure: I'll be focusing more energy on making bigger games, which means a slower creation cycle, and more commentary and insights from me as I work. By the end of May, my tiers may have a slightly different form- I'll be talking with my patrons about this and I'm excited to find out what we come up with. I'll definitely still have a discounted access tier for times my patrons consider themselves low-income and unable to afford the standard support tier. Getting by can be hard!

So, with your help I'll be making big games, small games, and revising my games for wider release! PDFs are available to download during the season they're released and then disappear into the mist of my future plans. Eventually some works will find homes on other parts of the web, become free for all, reappear in the Pocket archive, collections, print, who knows, all kinds. As a patron, you'll see them first and have them, along with my gratitude.
Via your kind donation I shall draw forth a thousand treasures!

Pay For Custom Art
I've got art in some of my games, art which comes from myself and my artist friends. These days I "pay" them through goodwill, favors, and generally being friends who just do stuff to help one another because we want to. And that will continue! But I'll also be able to pay my peeps to make art for my games, which will mean more art overall.
