About Jakob Gollon

"To lead is to sacrifice. To educate is benevolence. Through words, spoken and written, public events, and a community led by LOVE, I want to move us toward better days. I'm an Architect of Areté. It's not easy, but here, we're helping each other lead lives engulfed in the spirit of excellence."

Jakob’s leadership and communication skills were crafted through the role he played in several championship athletic programs. As a player, he captained the 3 winningest teams in Mercer University’s school history, capped with a 2014 NCAA Tournament bid and first round upset victory over the #3 seeded Duke Blue Devils—a game that would win Jakob and his teammates an ESPY Award.

Following his playing career, Jakob went on to coach basketball and won a National Championship in 2015 with the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, eventually leaving the college coaching scene to pursue other passions after three successful seasons.

Known for his thought provoking ideas, challenging standards, and charismatic spirit, Jakob now travels to universities and businesses to speak with teams about how things like leadership, perspective, setting standards, grit, perseverance, and communication are omnipresent in any successful organization.

In addition to speaking, Jakob writes a blog, is working on a book, and also consults business owners on systems design, process improvement, communication, and user experience.

MY CURRENT RESEARCH: Construction + Sustainable Design + Urban Development + Renewable Energy — with a focus on Industrial Repurposing (think old tobacco factory turned mixed-use housing with farmer's market, park, winery, and music/art venue beneath — I've developed people and systems before, and now, I'd truly love to be able to help build better places. I believe that our physical spaces influence our well-being and human experience at large. So long as children are being born, growth and development is inevitable. We need more folks involved in Urban Development that are interested in community excellence and not so much in raw profit. I am aiming (with a long trajectory) to educate myself enough to join this industry in some way.
