You are Awesome! Thank you for investing and being an early adopter of a new cultural model!

Please view becoming a patron as an altruistic act.

Becoming a patron will help me financially sustain what I do and encourage me to continue producing ambitious art.

There are three different tiers of patronage but all tiers for now will provide access to the same content.
As the project develops, more benefits will be introduced in the higher tiers and you will have the option to upgrade.

You will have unique access to the digital viewing of my current studio installation project, a series of video meditations and featured works from my video archive.

About James Alec Hardy

Welcome!

Thank you for reading further...

I would be honoured for you to support my artistic practice, where you will receive unique access to my video art and audio compositions connected directly to your home and mobile device.

Why become a fine art patron on Patreon?

I invite you to join the next generation of art collectors by becoming a patron and investing directly into the creative process.

The 20th century cultural model has been killed by Big Tech companies, leaving us to now work out new ways to create and survive in the 21st century.

The world has changed and along with it the ability to become part of collaborative creative projects has never been easier, or more crucial to help sustain the arts.

I have been looking at ways to diversify my art practice and make my video art accessible at home, finding that the Patreon platform is well suited to my creative output and workflow.

By making a small donation you will provide crucial support that will help me pay for the monthly running costs and creative overheads. In return you have a front row seat letting you watch how an artwork develops with exclusive insight.

Your monthly subscription will give you unlimited access to my current art work as well as private links to my video archive of experimental material and performances.

What does it cost?

I have created three different priced tiers which for the start of the project will all offer the same content. As the project develops I will add extra content that will be accessible in the higher tiers as a reward for investing more.

Any contribution large or small is extremely important in helping me create new work and It also inspires me to develop and produce more. If subscribing is too much of a commitment right now, you can make a one-off £3 donation here via Ko-Fi

There is no long term commitment and you can try it out for as long as you like. No worries if it's not your cup of tea ;-)

What will I be doing / What can you expect?

In 2018 I started recording video landscapes in Ultra High Definition for an ambitious long term project called "Wild Bau : Bau Wild". The title comes from a German phrase which translates into English as; "of wild construction" or "made outdoors (in the wild)". This seemed to be an accurate description for the material I am creating and a good way of referring to it as a body of work.
Since then I have been continuously surveying the greenspaces of inner London urban areas, using video to document and reclaim the spaces for my own reworking; these landscapes have come to form a series of video meditations.
I have been regularily capturing these locations throughout the year and want to share them ahead of the seasonal shifts.
Working in my studio during the week, I create abstract video and audio compositions, which are combined with these video meditations.

All of the material that you will experience here shall be considered for elements of my future installation works that will be shown in physical exhibitions.

How did I reach this point?

Since 2002 I have been creating contemporary moving image within a critical fine art practice, creating ambitious installations and performances in galleries, major cultural instituitions and international biennales.

In March 2020 I had installed a video and sound installation for the Mdina Biennale in Malta, which got cancelled the day before the opening because of the global pandemic. A solo show in Berlin was also cancelled and all other physical opportunities to show my work have changed.

I strive in finding ways to make video art more accessible, and want to continue producing engaging experiences with sound and video.
My installation and performance artwork does not easily fit into commercial markets, and I have been supporting my creative practice with income from other work, in order to support the production costs of exhibitions.

In 2020 when governments told us to stay at home, digital screens became the commonly shared window to the world and the main mode of communication.
My art practice is a critique of how technology has encrouched our personal lives and produced a reliance upon it. For over 25 years I have been collecting analogue video equipment which I have combined together in my studio to create a system that produces a visual language. These tools collectively generate abstract video which I use to challenge our perception of the digital technology we now take for granted.

There is a short video right at the top which gives an overview of my studio, and I have a portfolio of my artworks in exhibitions on my website www.jamesalechardy.com

Thanks for reading this and considering ways to support.

Onwards and upwards!

James
