Milestone Goals
The sweet spot of making this sustainable.
It takes roughly 6 hours a week to create this newsletter between writing, editing, fact-checking, and adding items to the archive. Doing some calculation, I figured this is a good goal to hit each month to make this work! Of course if it goes over I won't be upset, but I'm excited to see this goal reached.

Since the Fall of 2013, I've released a weekly newsletter called The Studio Visit where I write a piece of prose based on my mind's musings and 5 of the most interesting links I've come across. I started the project as a reaction to needing a larger, yet intimate, space to share thoughts that were longer than a tweet, but shorter than an essay. I liked the format of email newsletters because it shares a lot of similarities of zines: ephermeral but sharable, not linked to a particular service for distribution, and word of mouth is linked to its relevance. I've gotten to know my readers a lot through replies and conversations that have started from the week's conversations, and it's been quite a delight.
As of early summer of 2015, I quit my day job to persue freelance design, development, writing, podcasting, and my art pracitce full time. With that sudden change, I needed to start thinking about how my creative endeavors would lead to a sustainable living. With that, this Patreon was born!
With your monthly support, you will ensure that I keep on writing and keeping the conversation going through these fantastic letters, help my partner and I eat, and get that warm and fuzzy feeling that you are supporting art that exists in our culture. How cool is that?
As I sign off each of my letters...thanks for reading, and see you next week.

P.S.: While you are here and read all the way down to the bottom, check out the page to support the podcast Open Ended by great friend/collaborator Cher Vincent and myself.
