Jared Lorenz is a Toronto-based filmmaker raised on a farm nestled in the crook of the North Saskatchewan River, on the border of Alberta and Saskatchewan. He works as a cinematographer, writer, producer and editor, exploring the interplay between place and identity.

His first short documentary, produced through Calgary’s NUTV, followed a group of good-natured activists who attempted and happily failed to take over the World Cup Downhill dressed as giant forest animals.

He is an Associate member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers and has completed courses in Camera Motion, Lighting, and Tabletop Lighting.

Jared works as a behind-the-scenes shooter on TV series and features, and has worked as an assistant instructor at the National Theatre School of Canada. In 2012, he began piloting a program to produce video using cargo bikes.

In his spare time, he writes poetry, spends time with family, and works on documentaries.
