Heya! Thanks for coming to Yet Another Patreon Page.

The Basics
I'm JayAck, and I make stories and story analysises...analysi? More than one analysis. The form those stories take varies: I write, mostly, in the form of novels, light novels, and short fiction that I post online for free or for very cheap (less than a small coffee in most places). One such story I make takes the form of an interactive play-by-post game that you (yes, YOU) can participate in as it unfolds. I also like talking about stories in general across all types of media, be that anime, literature, film, or games. I'll occasionally make long-form video essays about these topics and put them up on YouTube.

I've been posting my stuff online since 2012, and I've decided that sharing my stories with you (yes, still YOU) and others (but not that guy over there) is what I'd like to keep doing. So in order to do that, I need enough money to get by to buy things like food and shelter and clothes. If you decide you like my stuff and want to help me, then you're in the right place! If you feel like contributing, I have some extras for you.  If not, that's cool! I'm still gonna keep my stuff up for you to check out at your leisure.  Thanks again for stopping by!

What EXACTLY am I making and how frequently will I be making it?
I have two major projects  (or "Tentpoles") that I will be posting online and that you will be directly funding:
1) The City of Time & Memory - "I love this [game]. So much," -Eric Heisserer, Oscar-nominated screenwriter of "Arrival," (yes, I'm serious, he really said that about my game. I'm stoked)

This is the play-by-post game, a supernatural horror story that I write and illustrate (questionably). Updates will come at an average of 4 per month (sometimes more!). It's originally hosted on a private forum, but also on my website at jachildress.com. Updates require drawing backgrounds, character art, sometimes even (highly questionable) animation! I also have to write everything, and go through submitted player (again, this is you if you want to participate) actions and make sure they're fair to the game and will progress the story in a way that makes people happy.

2) Homicidal Aliens are Invading and All I Got is This Stat Menu (Light Novel series)-

A "light novel" is a type of short novel sold in Japan that features some illustrations and is usually, but not always, marketed to YA markets and tend to gravitate toward fantasy and SF genres, though there are plenty of romance and other types of LNs as well. This series will get a minimum of 4 updates per month (sometimes more!) and be posted on my website at jachildress.com as well as other sites that feature online fiction like RoyalRoad and WattPad.

So between those two projects, at least 8 updates per month.

Will I be making anything else?

Yeah, totally! I've made a few analysis videos on my Youtube Channel that you can check out, and while I don't have any kind of monthly minimum for videos, if that becomes a thing you want to see more of, as a patron you would have a say in what kinds of things you'd like to see from me. I am also a (very) amateur artist, and any doodles or other things I make for my light novel, videos, or game would also be included in this category. This category could expand in the future depending on funding to include additional major content but there will always be something extra I'm working on to keep me active but give my brain a rest from the main two projects listed above. This category, being quite nebulous, could also feature things you, the Patron, want to see!  A cooking video? More short stories? An LP where I overreact and shriek into a microphone for just over ten minutes for that sweet algorithm money? Covering myself in centipedes and letting them chew on my flesh?! Sure, I guess, we can give it a try! Maybe not that last one though, I don't think I'd like that.

Or would I?????????

No. I wouldn't.

What will I do with the money (assuming I make any)?
At lower levels of Patreon earnings (like, under $100 a month), I'm mostly just going to put it into my savings account and use it to pay for web hosting. If the amount increases, it could eventually cover all my basic living expenses and having a budget to increase production values on my various projects (professional cover artists, more videos, original music from indie composers I hire, etc). That's pie in the sky stuff, though. However, whether I'm only making $1 a month or $100,000 a month (lol), I think it's important to be transparent and honest with my patrons about what their money is getting them, and where it's going. Should the day come when I'm making my living off of this, I will update this section and provide reports. I will also use the money to validate my artistic decisions to my third grade teacher who told me to stop doodling and making up stories because I'd never get a job doing that. Who's laughing now teach?!

Anything else?
Right now I am incredibly small time. At the launch of this page, I suspect maybe 15 people on this entire planet know about me and my work. I'd like to change that and that's part of why I'm trying to branch out more. If I'm fortunate enough to get more people interested in what I'm doing, I will add stuff to this page and answer any other questions or concerns that arise. If you made it all the way down here, thanks for stopping by. Hopefully, this won't be the last we see of each other.
