Who We Are:
Based in NYC, JazzTrail is the product of the collaborative work between partners in life: a compulsive listener with a passion for jazz and a sharp observer whose photography captures the expressiveness of musical moments.
Filipe Freitas was an electrical engineer in a previous life. Now, completely reborn, he writes about jazz and movies, which is much more electrifying. He gets extremely happy whenever a bag of tortilla chips is around and his soul rejoices when he plays guitar. His father used to be a music distributor before the Internet has swallowed the record industry, so, all the masterpieces, not only within the jazz genre, were available and ready to be absorbed.
At some point in her childhood, Clara Pereira believed she was an alien… Instead, she became a photographer and graphic designer (with special powers) who couldn’t have been more human since her joy comes from earthly things such as coffee, a glass of good red wine, and TV shows.
We both left our country, Portugal, almost a decade ago, to follow our dreams. The success of JazzTrail showed us that dreams can come true if your heart is in the right place and you do what you love.

What We Do:
On JazzTrail we cover jazz concerts and festivals, mostly throughout NYC but occasionally in Europe. We also review the latest jazz albums, with the main focus on modern jazz, and interview musicians whose artistic creation makes us want to know more.

Why We Do It:
We do it because we love it! We found a way to combine our passions and work together, so each of us can bring to the table what we do better.
Additionally, this is a way to disseminate jazz in its different forms of expression. We feature accomplished artists within the genre but also help talented, emerging musicians to expose their work in a reliable platform.

Why We Need Patrons:
Covering concerts and reviewing albums is a pleasure, yet very time-consuming.
Record labels, PRs and musicians send us dozens of albums to be reviewed and request concerts coverage every week. However, our efforts don’t translate in a financial compensation, forcing us to find other ways to make a living. It is our goal to live exclusively from our passion while providing you with professional content about the vibrant New York Jazz Scene and beyond.
It is our goal to keep the website free from unwanted advertising while focusing on more material and ways to expand.
We hope you like our work, thanking you in advance for every (little or big) support you can offer to keep JazzTrail alive and growing.
