indeed, by moving to Canada I left behind my publisher and decided to be my own publisher and boss, to be 100% independent and complete artist.
The world of the book isn't as gentle as it seems.
Working for a publisher is very comfortable, they do all what you don't want to but as you are not the only artist they promote, you fall quickly in a vicious circle.
You have to work more and more with low incomes and royalties (when you have), rewarded of just 10% for the best of what you did, with no rest, no holidays. One book can take me 2 years to achieve it and I had to link book after book to counterbalance the royalties that were decreased and to have a descent life.
Yes I was living from my art, but at what cost ?
I felt pressured and tired of this job that I love.
I took my decision.
The relation artist/publisher in France is really strong so leaving this « comfort » zone hasn't been without stress, but I knew deep down that I was doing the right choice.
Of course today I have to do all by myself : find contracts, deal and negotiate, etc, I try to be as much business man as artist.
Like all artist, I would prefer to just create and not being involved in money matters but this is life and if we want something to be done, we need to do it by ourselves.
This is much more rewarding than anything else.


ABOUT THE REWARDS
I am not planning to offer a load of rewards and tiers or milestone and I prefer you to pay whatever you want, depending your budget to support my art.
I would like you to fund me because you want to fund me.
As patrons, mécènes in French, were doing during the Golden Age of painting in the 19th century, you will be able to offer this wonderful possibility to let express myself and keep on make you dream.

I will not litter my videos and social media with constant calls for funding.
I'll do some promotion, because that makes sense of course.
However it will be enough discreet so that you won't feel harassed in any kind.
You want to see my art no to be advertised to ! Well, that's my philosophy !

MY PROMISE
I will make sure that everyone on this page will have access before anyone else to my new illustrations, W.I.P., doodles, thoughts, tutorials etc.
You will appear in my future books on the Gratitude Page.
I will be happy to make a Q&A with you to reply to everything you ask about Art and make reviews on professional portfolios.
About this last point, I'd like to be very specific and clear: as it written, it will be professional. So it may happen that my words and critics can hurt and that you take my review very personally and angrily. I won't be gentle just because it is civil to be so and in reverse, I won't be harsh because I like scaring people ruining their hopes. I will be very honest and tell what are the weak and strong points for you to improve. We will discuss from professional to professional.
