I'm Jillian Boyd, author and editor of short erotic fiction and writer of the popular...ish  sex and relationships blog Lady Laid Bare

A brief bit of background

  • I started writing Lady Laid Bare in 2011 as a way to figure out my sexuality on my own terms, in the way I was most comfortable with - in writing;
  • Through writing bits of short fiction in response to erotic writing memes, I got into writing erotica and sent my first submission piece that same year;
  • Both my fiction and non-fiction have since been published in a variety of places (as a fiction writer, I have worked with the likes of Cleis Press, Ladylit, House of Erotica and Sexy Little Pages)
  • I work as an editor specializing in erotica/erotic romance and sex writing non-fiction;
  • And I freelance as a copywriter for adult industry workers.

Things I write about on my blog

- Open, honest, frank talk about sex and my experiences with it;

- My relationship and relationships in general;

- The intersection of sex and mental health, and my own experiences with depression and anxiety;

- Sex and media (specifically cinema).

What kind of erotica I write

Mainly contemporary, with a variety of sexual pairings, often very rooted in everyday life and its quirks.

Things that matter to me and that you becoming my Patron might help me with

- A big factor in the creation of my blog was my frustration at how lacking my sex education in school had been, not to mention the lack of resources that were available to me. Comprehensive, unbiased, honest sex and relationships education is something I want to help fight for

- I want to keep writing about sex and mental health and help chip away at prevailing stigmas around both topics

- To quote my publisher, Sexy Little Pages:

As a society we’re ashamed of sex and sexuality but we should celebrate it. Sex is an integral part of life, whether it’s fun, filthy, flirtatious, unfulfilling, an escape from reality or something else entirely.

I believe in those words 100 percent and want to keep writing erotica celebrating the whole spectrum of gender, ability and desires.

What can I do if I am not in a position to financially support you?

- Hit up my blog and check out what I've been up to on there, or give me a nudge on Twitter and say hello;

- Buy my books (and leave a review or a rating if you fancy)

- If you like what you're reading, spread the word about me and share some links

What's in it for me if I support you on Patreon?

- Regular Patron-only blog posts

- Sneak previews of work in progress

- A complimentary copy of one of the anthologies I have worked on as an editor

- Occasional free stuff!

- And other things I've yet to figure out but hey, we'll get there, right?
