Hello!

My name is Jeff and I have been putting things on the internet since 1999. It's been a mix of artwork, writing, videos and photography. If you are reading this there is a good chance you know me personally or you've been following me on social media. If that's the case you might already be familiar with my origin story, but if not, here's a brief history.

Back in 2004 I quit my day job and opened an art gallery in a small second floor "office" space. To sum up what has happened since then as quickly as possible I will say that my gallery moved to a bigger street level space after a couple of years. After a couple of more years it moved to an even bigger space in a better location. By the eighth or ninth year I was a little burnt out on running a retail space and closed up shop to concentrate on making artwork for other galleries. It's funny how that happens with entrepreneurs. We quit our jobs to do something we love and eventually we are doing less of what we quit our jobs to do and doing more business sort of work. Anyway, it's been an exciting run full of ups and downs, good memories, meeting a lot of people, and making a lot of artwork, but living as a full time artist can be difficult because there is never a guaranteed paycheck. Fast forward to 2016 and I opened a new gallery, more of a hybrid gallery (meaning home decor and gifty things along with my artwork), in Paso Robles, CA. Running an art gallery/boutique might sound amazing, but it's A LOT of work. The store is open about 60 hours a week, which leaves very little time for painting, writing, or video making. I am now in the same position I was in before where I find myself working more on the store than on making artwork.

When I discovered Patreon I was like, "WHOA!!! This is exactly what I've been looking for!" A guaranteed paycheck to be creative and to make artwork and other things without having to worry so much about keeping my retail shop open so many hours. My BIG goal with Patreon is that, with your amazing support, I can dedicate MORE hours to making the things you love and less hours being a retail clerk. I've had successful fundraising campaigns on Kickstarter and Indiegogo, so I've been a huge fan of crowdfunding since the first time I heard about it. Although I love those sites I don't always have a BIG project that needs funding. Even with my limited time I am constantly making things throughout the month. Some of them big, some small, some that are time-consuming, and some not. Most of what I create is original paintings, limited edition prints, blog posts (which range from personal to advice for artists to photography, and of course, some self-promotional posts when I have new things for sale, etc.) and videos. There are way more things I want to make than I have time to make and I hope to change that with Patreon.

In October 2018 I took on the "Vlogtober Challenge" and posted an art advice video every day for the entire month of October. It's a very difficult challenge to accomplish when 60 hours of every week is dedicated to running a retail store, but I did it. I really enjoyed sharing some of the things I've learned over the past 20 years of selling artwork. I'm only mentioning Vlogtober because I would love to make more videos and that challenge really showed me how much time is needed to make content for YouTube. To say my work and family was neglected would be an understatement, but putting out videos shouldn't be a sacrifice.

So, here we are. I want to make things. Lots of things. A plethora of things. And I need your help to do it. Here's the deal. Like I said at the very beginning, I've been putting things on the internet since 1999. All of it is free and will continue to be free. I have no intention to charge for content. I enjoy putting it out and I know some people enjoy it, whether it's reading a blog post, watching one of my videos, or seeing my artwork on Instagram, it's all there for you to enjoy. All I'm asking is that if you enjoy it or it brings any value to you at all it would be amazing to get any of your support. Whether it's a $1 or $5 or even a shout out on your social media, all of it is greatly appreciated.

Like all projects, this page will evolve and change and get better as we all learn more about it and what works best for all of us. We're in this together and I want all of us to be happy. With that said, I am launching this page with only 2 support options. For now they offer the same exact thing, but are different amounts for those of you that would like to contribute a little bit more.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read all of this and following along on my adventure.
