My name is Jennifer James, and I'm a licensed and practicing psychotherapist, as well as an author, blogger and podcaster.  In 2011, I suffered a year-and-a-half long debilitating illness that changed my life and my perspective on medicine.  Before my illness, I had believed that if I got sick, I simply had to go to the doctor, get a diagnosis and a treatment, and I would get well.  Turns out this was rather simplistic.  The doctors didn't know what was wrong with me, testing was inconclusive, and in the end I was turned away with a dismissive, "It's probably just anxiety."

As a therapist, I knew that this wasn't true. Anxiety couldn't cause the severe symptoms that I was experiencing.  So, when a neurologist suggested that I try yoga, I did--with enthusiasm--anything to feel less helpless.  And it worked!  From there, my health journey grew, and I tried multiple alternative healing methods.  As I did so, my health improved, and now I'm fully functional again.

Now, I want to share what I learned with others in order to give them hope that they too can take control of their own healing.  In "I'm Sick, Not Crazy," I'm writing a book, blogging and podcasting with my message.  With your support, I can reach more people, and hopefully spread the healing throughout the world.
