About Jessica Heaven

"This was astounding and I was absolutely riveted from the first downbeat...This is the kind of performance that makes you realize you are lucky to witness this particular stage of a rising star (stars) as they "strut their stuff" and you thrill at each and every note."
- Karin Plato, Juno nominated artist

Jessica Heaven is a Canadian performer who crosses musical genres to create meaningful and powerful art! She has had the pleasure of working with Juno Award-winning composer Jordan Nobles on multiple occasions, including Canada Music Week 2012 and his upcoming project Chiaroscuro. She is currently promoting her debut album "Caught in a Memory" which was released August 2019 and Closest Living Relative's debut improvisational album out now! She is the Chair of the Women in Jazz Association of BC and their blog editor, a Cofounder and Artisitic Director of the HEARTBEAT project and is a board delegate for Seattle Women in Jazz.

Jessica grew up on the West Coast and started dancing, singing, and acting at a young age, competing at a high level in dance, and singing, she performed in Spain, Carnegie Hall, and the Vancouver Fringe Festival before receiving a full scholarship to attend Capilano University's Jazz Studies program. After she finished her diploma she went on to Simon Fraser Univserity where she studied Communication and Anthropology, diving into the relationship between sensory ehtnography and art. Now, Jessica combines her knowledge with her passion for music to be the change she wants to see in the world. She's worked with Rika Siewert, Cherine Amr, and Sari Alesh, amongst many others to put together meaningful musical performances.
