About J.G. MacLeod

Hello and welcome prospective patrons! Why have I set up a Patreon account, you may ask? Time. But wait, let me backtrack for a minute and explain myself.

My name is J.G. MacLeod and I am a multi award-winning author of 3 published fiction novels. I have been writing for years, but finally decided to publish my debut novel Abalone: One woman's courageous journey through relationship abuse in June 2018. I received positive reviews and support for this honest story about 1st love, relationship violence, and healing from trauma. Abalone won the Online Book Club Book of the Year Award for 'Other Fiction' (2018).

I then went on to publish Lady Ellen, the 1st novel in my historical romance series, The Adventures of Lady Ellen Montagu, in July 2018. This trilogy is set in Ireland in the 1840s and follows the main character, Lady Ellen, as she navigates the often complicated world of courting in Victorian Ireland. Lady Ellen won the Breakthrough Novel Award for Historical Fiction (2018). The 2nd novel in the series, Two Paths, was published in November 2018, and I am currently writing the final book in the series, New London, set for release in July 2019.

In addition to these works, I am also writing a novel called A Moment in Time, which is a combination between dystopia and literary fiction that blends time travel and violence against women. A Moment in Time tells the tale of a strong female lead who works as a social science teacher in an adult education facility, as well as the story of an ex con who winds up in her class. Their instant chemistry is fraught with complications, least of which is the power dynamic of teacher-student. I hope to publish this novel in late 2019.

This brings me to Patreon and why I decided to reach out to patrons. Writing has been a life-long passion for me, but being a mother to 3 wonderful children, and working full time to support them, makes time difficult to come by. Time is what allows me to explore my craft, to research, attend writing conferences and workshops, draft novels, edit and revise, and market my work. Yet due to the demands of my full time career, I do not have as much time to devote to my passion as I would like.

My dream has always been to write full time; my more realistic goal, given how tight everyone's budgets are these days, is to hopefully extend my current writing schedule of "squeezing a little writing in here and there when my children fall asleep at night", to at least a part time writing gig that is fulfilling and productive.

If you can spare a donation, in any amount, it would be much appreciated. I will be posting regular updates on the progress of my current projects.
