Welcome!

Over the past 5 years, Astroquizzical has grown from a tumblr blog onwards to its own website, a regular contribution at Forbes for 2.5 years, and, most recently, a book! Now I'd like to invite you, the readers, to support Astroquizzical directly.

Astroquizzical is a question-and-answer conversation with you, the readers. Readers anonymously submit their questions about outer space, astrophysics, or what-if hypotheticals, and I do my best to clearly and understandably explain the concepts that are needed to untangle a point of confusion. I began Astroquizzical as a nights and weekends project during my PhD, and it has kept me company throughout my career. I am now an assistant professor, where teaching is my main profession. Continuing to write Astroquizzical is a great way to reach the curious outside my classrooms.

Why Patreon?
Astroquizzical has been running as a completely ad-free blog for the past five years. This has been partially self-funded, and partially funded by payments from other outlets while I was writing for them. Coming to Patreon will let me continue to keep the Astroquizzical site ad-free, while also funding the time needed to research answers to all of your questions!

I have lots of ideas for things to do, both on the blog and for in-person science communication - Patreon funding will allow me to set aside time to work on Astroquizzical!

How does Patreon work in general?
Patreon is a way for you to directly support creators you enjoy, by pledging a monthly contribution! Patreon will charge you when I post an article, according to the tier you choose. You can set a maximum amount you will be charged in a month, so you don't get unexpectedly charged more than you were anticipating. If you are on the Galactic or Cosmic tiers, I will send out my research notes a day or two after the posts go live, a science news digest every two weeks to the Cosmic tier backers, and all backers will be supporting ad-free science communication, so thank you all!
