About Jim Kelso

The primary goal of my work for 50 years has been to spark a feeling of kinship with Nature in the viewer. I am dedicated to the path of exploring the beauty and mystery of the Numinous Natural World and expressing these as best I can in my sculpting, writing and photography. I also remain committed to sharing 5 decades of accumulated knowledge of technique, design, history and aesthetics.

In 1972 I began studying wood and metal carving and engraving. Since then I have been creating a variety of nature inspired objects which are represented in international collections and museums. This work has been my sole livelihood since 1982. Please see my work at:
Jim Kelso Website

After a period of intense study of European and Japanese art and technique, my work has become increasingly a personal reflection of local flora and fauna. Outdoor nature immersion informs my work in a substantial and intimate way.

During most of my career I have enjoyed making my technical and aesthetic knowledge freely available online at my website, at various forums and social media, as well as conferences and workshops. It is time, however, for me to seek some return for sharing in this way.

I am, I believe, making the finest work of my career, and am blessed with very good general health, however age does inexorably exert its influence, beginning perhaps with stamina.

I find it therefore sensible to appeal, to those who may find my goals worthy, for support in an amount commensurate to their ability and inclination. I am offering modest benefits for your generosity, as I know the dangers of unkept promises. This should allow us to “find our level” after a bit of time.

I am very thankful for the Patreon platform to appeal to a generous audience for support in continuing to tread the path of beauty and peace.

My heartfelt thanks for your support and generosity. With much appreciation,  Jim
