About

Hi, everybody! My name is Jin Wicked!

I am a visual and performance artist, illustrator, podcaster, and writer. Life is art! My homepage is JinWicked.com.

Much of my creative work involves deconstruction of the self, inner vs. outer perception, evolution of identities, and the communication of complex emotional states through portraiture and heavy use of symbolism.

My work bridges the gap between colourful humour and darker subject matter such as anxiety, depression, and other mental illness. Much is therapeutic in nature.

I love to inspire others to pursue their passions and goals!

I am best known for my autobiographical web comics, Crap I Drew on My Lunch Break (2003), A Dollar Late and A Day Short (2008), Have Tablet Will Scribble (2015), and Queen of Assholes (2018). I also have planned a web comic about one of my best friends, The Book of Al (2019-2020).

In addition to my comics, I produce a personal blog, studio artwork and illustrations, three sporadic podcasts, and an assortment of videos for my YouTube channel.

My other interests include acting, comedy, cooking and baking, photography, crafts, language, musical instruments, singing, dancing, roller skating, health/fitness, weight lifting, politics, and science. I am also a professional custom picture framer with twenty years of experience.

Though I take advantage of all opportunities to learn, I did not attend any secondary education, and I am primarily self-taught. After years of struggling with anxiety, depression, then watching my mother pass away before age sixty, I had an early mid-life crisis. I got divorced, lost 70lbs, and moved across the country from Houston, Texas, up to Saint Paul, Minnesota, where I began building a new life in 2015.

In early 2019 I was diagnosed with ADHD, and I began medication which, combined with a better understanding of how my attention span and focus operate, has helped me to conquer many of the frustrations and obstacles that have plagued me for most of my life beginning in childhood.

I currently give back to the community through my work in senior/elder care, helping to run my local comic book convention, and small animal rescue.

My whole life is dedicated to artistic and personal growth, and emotional, mental, and physical development.

All patrons pledging $1.00 or more per month will have access to new comics one week before the general public, as well as a chance to participate in my monthly "sketch card lottery" where you can submit requests for 2.5" x 3.5" watercolour and ink sketch cards. I work with the ideas that inspire me! You may reserve, but are under no obligation to purchase, the sketch card once it is completed.

COMMISSIONS: Becoming a Patron is the ONLY way to request custom art or commissions from me. Due to schedule limitations, there is a waiting list for illustrations and other non-sketch card commissions. I do not accept commissions or requests (except my fast and free in-person event sketch cards) through my website or any other venue. You must be a Patron in good standing for at least six months before I will consider a commission.

Patrons also have access to work-in-progress photos and videos, and the first chance at purchasing new work!
