MORE ABOUT ME, MY WORK & THIS PATREON
Who Are You?

My name is J. M. DeSantis. I’m a Write-ist (my coined term for writer and artist). I write prose fiction, comics, and poetry, and I work in traditional media as an artist (typically mixed-media). I’ve authored a number of stories and artworks in the fantasy, horror, and humour genres, both traditionally published and self-published. These include my dark fantasy comic, Chadhiyana, and my humorous horror web-comic, Gentleman Cthulhu: Emeritus Moribus Monstrum.

Why Are You on Patreon?
Like most creators, I’m here to help fund my creative endeavours and connect with fans. To be more specific, I prefer writing and illustrating my own stories to freelancing, but it’s a slow build when you’re not working on established properties. I’m on Patreon to create a steady, base income and offset some business costs as I continue to produce my work, grow my business, and grow my fan base.

What is Patreon?
Patreon is a website that allows people to support creators on an on-going basis. Creators in turn offer rewards to their patrons for helping them reach their goals. I’m doing much the same.

What’s in Your Patreon Feed?

Like all of my web-based projects (my websites, blog, newsletter, etc), my Patreon is a constant work-in-progress. I do my best to keep my patrons updated on my work and projects, offer previews of upcoming publications (when possible), and put out news before it’s announced on my blog or social media. I even sometimes offer exclusive information.

How Rewards Are Distributed
  • Previews (all patrons) are released through the feed and under the Preview tag
  • Digital rewards ($5 and up tiers) are released under the  Digital Reward tag as soon as they’re available.
  • Printed materials ($15 and up tiers), are mailed out as they come in, according to the month in which they are released digitally.
  • Behind-the-scenes and developmental notes and sketches ($30 and up tiers) are released under the Notes & Sketches tag.

Will You Hate Me if I Don’t Contribute/Stop Contributing?

Of course not! Patreon isn’t the only way to support my work, and I can’t expect anyone to be able to or want to support me in this way. You can show your support by purchasing my writing and art or even by spreading the word about my work. Most importantly, I love creating too much to ever stop, so I’ll keep writing and arting either way, and my blog and web-comic will remain free.
Tiers
The Hidden Ones
$1 or more per month
Basic level support. Early access.

No one knew the identities of the Hidden Ones. Some said they were unwelcome outcasts, yet there were a few who spoke of them as a secret society, rumoured to be of the highest order, pulling the strings from the shadows.

Includes

  • Access Patreon feed
  • Unlock Tier Reward Art (digital; print after 3 mo.)
  • Early access to Gentleman Cthulhu comics
  • Preview of all comics, books & stories (self-published & some traditional; when possible)
The Vacuous Souls
$3 or more per month (sold out!)
(OLD TIER; BEING FILTERED OUT!)

Basic level support. Early access.

Blissfully unaware of their part, the Vacuous followed passively. It was for their insipid acquiescence that they were bestowed with such an unflattering title.

Includes

  • Access Patreon feed
  • Unlock Tier Reward Art (digital; print after 3 mo.)
  • Name listed on website(s) & in all self-published material
  • Early access to Gentleman Cthulhu comics
  • Preview of all comics, books & stories (self-published & some traditional; when possible)
  • Chadhiyana # 0 & Gentleman Cthulhu annuals (digital)
The Gilded Aristocracy
$5 or more per month
Full digital support and access.

The Gilded were obsessed with legacy. Only it is a curious fact that they did not quite understand the consequences of their willing yet blind participation. Did their self-satisfaction not allow them to see they were little different than those whom they spurned as their lessers?

The Abyss Hunters

The hunters were not afraid to get their hands dirty, and they were a more than capable bunch. Though without the proper knowledge it is uncertain if they knew precisely what it was they were hunting. Bless them, they thought they were doing good.

It was the Inquisitors who began to ask questions. Though there was a sense this charade was enough to appease their curiosity as they did not delve completely into hidden things. Though many wonder now, were they aware the truth would break them utterly?

Goals
87% complete
It’s a Start!

It’s a small goal, but a very important one to reach. At this level, I’ll be breaking even on the average costs of creating Gentleman Cthulhu (my web-comic). Of course, this only covers expenses, not my time, but it’s a great start and will help me keep the comic going longer. Thank you, Patrons! I can breathe a little easier now.
