HEY, Y'ALL! My name's Joamette! I'm a queer Afro-Cuban cartoonist working in the broad spectrums of speculative fiction, autobio, and romance. "Queer woman of color representation" is the name of my game.

If you've heard of me before, it was most likely through the award-winning, all-POC comics series I edit, POWER & MAGIC: The Queer Witch Comics Anthology, or through my intersectional education comics on Everyday Feminism and The Nib. You can see more of my comics here!

Why Patreon?
Patreon is a service that allows fans and community members to pledge a monthly dollar amount toward supporting creators they believe in. It also makes it easy for creators to offer their patrons special rewards in exchange (think of it as an ongoing Kickstarter campaign)!

I call myself a "cartoonist" for simplicity, but I really do a bit of everything to bring home the bacon: cartooning, editing, illustrating, comics lettering, prepress tech, and sensitivity reading (PHEW!). Due to a disability, I have to work from home on a freelance and contract basis, which neither supports me well nor leaves me with much time to simply practice my craft.

With your help, I can cut back on (and eventually cut out) freelance work and focus 100% on being a creator and publishing comics for queer and POC audiences!
Any perks?
Apart from my undying gratitude and appreciation, all Patrons will have exclusive behind-the-scenes access to all of my projects plus my personal sketchbook entries. Whether it's figure studies, set and character design, thumbnails for an upcoming comic, or color studies, it'll all be reserved for you, the supporters!

How often will you update?
The production blog will update once a month at minimum. Guaranteed update frequency will increase as new Goals are unlocked - see the left-hand sidebar!

How often will I be charged?
You won't be charged until the 1st of every month! And you can edit or cancel your pledge anytime before you’re charged. Learn more at the FAQ.
