Thanks for checking out my Patreon page! I'm a writer and cartoonist who wants to make things that both you and I will enjoy.

My main project is a fantasy/mystery comic called The Wizard and The Metalsmith. The story follows metalsmith Rynaw Hamagan who takes over for his deceased mentor at the second largest castle in the forest realm of North Borol. When he and his wife discover that his mentor's death was suspicious, they find themselves surrounded by danger. Their new friends, a wizard and a healer, help them unravel the mystery they've been dragged into. You can read the first issue here.

My goal is to publish 2 to 3 pages of The Wizard and The Metalsmith a month. Those pages will be free for all, with patrons getting in-progress art and free digital downloads of each issue. I plan to exhibit at shows in the Baltimore area, and part of the money earned here will go towards printing costs, convention table fees, and giveaways.

I also work on various fanart projects that I've linked to from my main website at johnbintz.com. There's a few software projects I'm eyeing up in the next year or two as well. Any money from Patreon that doesn't go into funding The Wizard and The Metalsmith will go toward Web hosting, materials, and giving me the freedom to experiment in other creative fields when the opportunity arises.

I've been making comics since the late 90s, and I've self-published a few books - an all-ages comic called A Moment of Clarity and a word game comic called Dawn's Dictionary Drama. I've worked on the Web for almost 20 years. I'm an advocate for open source software, and, except for an iPad in Procreate, my art pipeline is entirely Linux, Krita, Inkscape, ImageMagick, and other open source tools.
