A very special song with a best friend

My best friend Heyn and I began playing guitar together when we were 14. We co-wrote our first few songs and were inseparable for many years. Life, as it sometimes does, pulled us in different directions, although we remain great friends. 


The last song we wrote together was way back in 2009, when we were sharing a house in Kalk Bay, Cape Town (along with my lovely sister Lucinda).


Heyn came to me with these beautiful chords and I helped fill it out a bit more and added the lyrics, which is really about our friendship. Two friends wandering through life, supporting one another, walking away and walking back together again. 


I stayed with Heyn for a few months in Cape Town this year, and was honoured to have him join me on stage to play this song at my last show! We may have grown into very different people, but he'll always be one of my favourite people and best friends.

Hi everyone! I shared a little video of this a few weeks ago. Well, it's basically finished now. Here's the 'sort of' final version, a rough home recorded demo, with a middle piece and an extra verse been added (lyrics below)!
