$6
per eight fantasy tomes.
I'm continuing the Tome of Tomes series, providing two sets of eight fantasy books per month, released roughly on the 15th and the 30th of each month. These books are ones that you could find in a sage's or wizard's library. Each of these books will be available free at my Sorcery & Super Science! blog, so if you can't support me, just drop by the website and enjoy.

As a tabletop-rpg gamer for over 30 years now (damn, I'm getting old), one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game was when I stumbled upon a lost library. The potential always seemed limitless! What kind of ancient knowledge lurked within the moldy old covers? Very little fires my imagination like stumbling across a library.

But from a Game Master perspective, lost libraries are really just a pain in the neck. You've got a group of excited players who've just found a treasure trove, and you have no information on what exactly they've found. So you just make up a few highlights and handwave the rest. Which is fine, but imagine if you could hand your players a list of titles found in their haul, and then back up that list with more detailed information, such as weight and dimensions (just how are you going to haul this stuff outta here?), and the most important, value.

That's what the Tome of Tomes series is for. Helping keep players excited and helping you by doing all the heavy lifting. Check out the two samples from the 100+ previously released tomes below, and you'll see the information provided to you for each tome .

The Demonomicon of Obering
Author: Pennirth Obering
Race: Elf
Dimensions: 14x12x1.5
Weight: 25 lbs.
Materials: Leather-bound, brassboard, vellum, adamantine clasps and lock
Rarity: Very rare
Fields of Study: Supernatural & unusual
Special Knowledge Categories: Planes (outer)
Value: 2,500 gp

The first book penned by Obering, this massive tome contains an incredible amount of scholarship regard the summoning and binding of demons. Hidden throughout the work are the real names of at least ten greater demons. It is this work that brought Obering his power and knowledge, but it was stolen from him decades ago. Where it currently lies is unknown.

The Deeper Gardens
Author: Halda Verdenburg
Race: Dwarf
Dimensions: 8x10x2
Weight: 8 lbs.
Materials: Leather-bound, stoneboard, parchment, iron clasp and lock
Rarity: Rare
Fields of Study: Flora
Special Knowledge Categories: Fungi
Value: 675 gp

This exceedingly rare book was the life’s work of Halda Verdenburg, a dwarf farmer under the Drachen Mountains. Halda was an adventurer in her early life and achieved great success. She took her earnings and focused the rest of her life on dwarfish agrarian purposes— a life that was obviously magically extended, for she died at the age of 721. The knowledge contained within The Deeper Gardens is vast, thorough, accurate, and practical. When the Drachen Mountain dwarfs were defeated and destroyed, the book passed into legend, and the few copies that remain are fearfully guarded.
