Herro! My name is Joshua Rigley, and I write stuff. Fiction stuff. Now, you might be thinking, "Well, gosh! I love me some fiction stuff!". If that's you, then I've got great news for you; you're weird, just like me! ;-)

I could ramble on about what a great writer I am and all, but rather than do that, how about I just show you a sample of my work and let you be the judge?

Here's a mini novel I wrote titled, "The Magic Mechanic and the Broken Soldier". It was meant to be the first of a series, but sadly my publisher decided to close up shop before I could finish it. So I'm giving it away for free, to you.

Here it is: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/82178681/TheMa...

It's roughly 40 pages long, so it may take you a half hour to an hour to read it all. Let me know when you're done. I'll be right here. :-)

Finished? Did you like it? Did you love it? If you loved it, that's great. If you didn't love it, then you're wrong. ;-)

Okay, so assuming you liked what I wrote and want to see more, let me tell you why I'm here. My dream is to earn a full-time income from doing something I love: writing fiction. I love the idea of being able to create vast and immersive worlds for other people to enjoy. I love the idea of being able to interact with my fans and get feedback from them. But most of all, I love the idea of waking up late and working from home in the comfort of my underwear (I'm not the only one who wishes they could do this, right?).

Little things like that are the reason why I want to become a novelist. Preferably, a novelist who earns a living. That's why I'm here.

Patreon is a site that connects artists and their fans in a unique way. It allows artists to share their artwork without the usual hassles of dealing with corporations that have shareholders to answer to, and it allows fans to support their favorite artists...and get rewarded in return.

In short, Patreon eliminates the corporate middleman that stands between artists and their fans by enabling fans to directly support their favorite artists, while simultaneously empowering artists to give away their art and still make a living from it. That's pretty awesome.

Getting fiction published is hard. Traditional publishers are notoriously picky about who they chose to work with, and their contracts tend to suck for authors. Thanks to the advent of e-readers like the Amazon Kindle, it's now possible for authors to self-publish their works and earn much higher royalties than they would with a traditional publisher. However, you pretty much have to treat your writing like a business if you want to succeed as a self-published author. The competition out there is massive.

I chose Patreon as the starting point for my career as an aspiring novelist, because it eliminates the worry about whether or not a book will sell, or if I'll sell enough copies to make a living. But most importantly, it will give me a chance to meet new fans. I hope you'll become one of them. :-)

If you'd like to join me on my journey and read more of my works, then please choose a donation level below that fits comfortably within your budget.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I hope I'll be hearing from you soon.

Warmest regards,

Joshua Rigley

F.A.Q (Fully Anticipated Questions)

What kind of stories will you be writing?

I will mostly be writing fantasy fiction, since that's my favorite genre. However, I will consider requests to write in other genres.

How long will your stories be?

My mini novels will be around 5,000-10,000 words long. I may write some bonus short stories that are much shorter than that, and of course, I may occasionally write a full-length novel.

How often will you be publishing your stories?

I'm aiming to release a new mini novel once a week, every Friday. I do not have a schedule for my novels yet.

Will you be publishing your stories professionally (outside of Patreon)?

I hope so. I can't say for sure whether I'll self-publish or go with a publisher, since that depends on a few different things. For the time being, my stories will be made available exclusively to my Patreon supporters.

Will Patreons get free access to your stories?

Of course! Patreons who support me at the "Bronze" level or higher will get free access to all of my works in eBook form. Patreons who support me at the "Basic" level will be among the first to know when I run special promotions for my paid works (among other things), and will also get free access to my shorter works. More info below.

Tiers
Pledge $1 or more per story
At the Basic Level, you'll gain the following rewards:
  • Get a warm fuzzy feeling, knowing that you are the most awesomest person alive! :D
  • Gain exclusive access to my Patreon only stream. I'll be interacting with you guys, plus I'll be posting fun/important updates regarding the progress of my writing.
  • In addition to the updates, you will be among the first to know when I run a special promotion on my paid works (if and when they are published), and I'll occasionally release one of my short stories to you guys for free.
Goals
$0 of $100 per story
I currently work as a carpet cleaner in a retirement home. If I can reach $100 per story, then I'll be able to justify quitting my job and then I'll give my all to writing!
