Hello, I'm Jo M Thomas and I'm into science fiction, fantasy and horror. Amongst other things, I'm the author of 25 Ways To Kill A Werewolf and co-editor of the Fox Spirit Books of European Monsters and of African Monsters.

I use Patreon to organise first drafts of side projects over the course of a year (or so). The current work in progress (WIP) is called Plumtree and is a mildly interactive story that allows my backers to make some of the choices that guide the plot. The first two passages will actually be the prologue and the epilogue - then we get to fill in the bit in between.

Passagers get early access to passages of the WIP every other Monday. Some of these will involve a vote at the end for what happens next. Votes are considered closed after a week of early access to allow me to write the next passage in time for the next release. Anyone can read passages once they're four weeks old.

Back-Seat Writers will also get to vote on background decisions (WIP Driving) such as character names, what decisions characters are going to be offered and so on. These will not be particularly regular but I expect there to be roughly one a month and any such voting posts will go up on a Wednesday - and close in time for me to write the next passage.

Navigators get all of that and the ability to put forward their votes on overall directions (Navigation), such as "should I offer any apocrypha*?", "should I look to getting this published?", "what sort of project should I do next?" and so on. Again, these posts won't be hugely regular - I predict about four or five over an individual project's lifetime - but if they exist, they will be posted on Fridays and remain open for perpetuity. (Which means you can go and make noises about past WIPs if you really want to.)

If you're after my previous Patreon WIP, Under Smoke City, you can find an index page here.

Thank you for coming and I hope you enjoy Plumtree!

Back-Seat Writers are Passagers with the added bonus of being able to vote on background decisions (WIP Driving) such as character names, what decisions characters are going to be offered and so on. These will not be particularly regular but I expect there to be roughly one a month and any such voting posts will go up on a Wednesday - and closed in time for me to write the affected passages.
