In the days of yore it was often essential that a philosopher, bard, poet or artist seek a wealthy patron to sponsor their creative existence. These days, I have the privilege of inviting many patrons into a community of personal supporters -- using this site, ' Patreon', to share my work.

I'd love you to join me on my quest is to complete three creative works that surpass anything I've yet done in my life. I need to gather my most supportive believers in one place! I want to share my work with you first.

Others know me from the 'net and my early published writings as Tyriel, author of "The Book of Rune Secrets", and creator of the most popular source for rune meanings on the internet: The Rune Secrets Study Community. But there is far more in store for the followers of my work, so long as we can come together and usher it into existence.

Holt Ironfell, Grandmaster Bard of Poets' Circle

Friends and family know me as James, but some know me as Sir  Holt Ironfell, the adventurous Grandmaster Bard of Poets' Circle, whose tales and music are inspired by Lord British's "Shroud of the Avatar":  Richard Garriott's spiritual successor to Ultima Online. As a child, his games were my earliest exposure to the runes. Lacking the manual to Ultima V, I decoded the Anglo-Saxon futhark at age 11. Now I have been composing and directing music for him, with the  Bards of Poets' Circle, for Richard's new game; the runes are still a huge part of his creative life.  

Here are the 2 things I'm working on now, for 2015 (and I need your help!):

#1 - "Questioning the Runes" : A profound journey into the contemporary meanings and uses of the runes, and their murkstaves, a philosophical and spiritual work that I believe will illustrate a completely fresh way of using the runes. These are my most radical thoughts and insights, shared first with my patrons as they ferment from the depths.

#2 - "Rune Songs for the 21st Century": With enchanting vocals, orchestral and electronic elements, these meditative tracks will be filled with inspiration. I plan to do a song for each rune, and some bonus tracks. Patrons will be the first to hear them, as they are created, and download them for free.

The Almighty Dollar: This 'money' thing is a notorious obstruction for the dedicated artist.
    A bard must ply his trade for a few coin!  I'll have to mail manuscripts out to be rejected.  There is website hosting, the cost of the rune community platform, music software & training, hidden fees for publishing, the price of producing gorgeous physical copies of the book and CD. Advertising that can get my work to an interested audience. I dare say my work would even profit from some piano lessons! Expensive stuff, and it's out of my league -- unless I have your help!
