Hello awesome patrons!  Episode 20 of Tell It Anyway is live. The show features two of my favorite storytellers, Greta Schwartz, who has a wonderful story about the worst parade EVER. Also Scott Johnson is on the program with a story about a really strange trip to the doctor's office long ago.

As for me, the story I tell this week is one that I've been "holding on to" for quite some time, which is to say, ten years. It's a simple story about meeting an awesome actor at the Emmys, but that moment has ended up being so impactful for Matt and me through the years. 

Anyway, thank you so much for you support, it is profoundly appreciated.

Oh haaaayyye!

It’s that time of the year again. Time to smash some steins, wear some lederhosen, and not eat for four days! Oh man, those Oktoberfest memories. All two of them.

Here is my new video, made with the excellent help of The Steinbenders. As far as New Zealand Bavarian Beer Bands go, they are pretty up there aye. We’re up against a bunch of other bands in the Bavarian Showdown at Oktoberfest in Wellington this year. If anyone is coming to it, definitely let me know so I can join your table for a bit. I’ll be there both days!

Being home is great. A little tricky sometimes, but mostly great. One of the best things is how keen people are to get involved in videos and music here. Planning for the new album is in full swing! I’ve got a band together and we’re gonna do like a live studio sort of thing. Just sussing the details, but it’s looking like it’s all go. Shoot video and record audio at the same time, that’s like double the result with half the calories! I’m actually wanting to do it that way specifically because I’ve gone all hipster and I want the recordings to be more real and not super processed. There’s usually a big difference between what we hear from the studio and what bands actually sound like. Unless you’re Justin Timberlake. Man, I saw him in London. So crazy good. What was I talking about?

Oh yeah! So I’m super happy with the songs, I think it’s a solid mix of light hearted fun stuff and more serious stuff. Little nervous about releasing the serious stuff but you know, as they say: “One in the sand is as good as one in hand. So keep those hands out of those pockets. And that’s how you find the treasure."
