About Juliana Chauncey

*I do not have any upcoming hikes in the works at the moment as it is the off-season and do not recommend becoming a patron at this time due to the lack of bonus content that is usually provided here.*

Thanks for visiting my Patreon page! I will be setting off to hike the Appalachian Trail in 2019, and am currently spending the time leading up to it finalizing gear and preparing!

More about me:
In 2017, I decided to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada in what became known as "the year of fire and ice". I bypassed the Sierra after coming upon it too early in the season for the snow skills I have (or lack), but that also allowed us to stay sometimes even just a day ahead of the fire closures that flooded the northern half of the trail.
In 2018, I section hiked 400 miles of the Colorado Trail while working in Denver as a front end developer. The goal had been to stay in shape and to get back out to the Sierra to finish my missed section in August 2018. However, two days before my flight was scheduled to depart, forest fires around Yosemite closed a large portion of the area I needed to hike.
While I haven't given up on the Sierra, I've accepted that the timing of it might be better just falling into place than being planned far in advance. In the meantime, I'll be departing from Springer Mountain in March 2019 to complete a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine.
I also co-host the Backpacker Radio podcast, presented by The Trek. As a podcast for long-distance hikers, by long-distance hikers, I have gotten to enjoy spending countless evenings of the past year interviewing incredible guests that have helped shaped the long-distance hiking community into what it is today.

I’d like to use this platform to post additional content to my YouTube and Instagram channels for anyone who has followed along and wants to see more. If you have any suggestions for things you’d like to see on this channel, send me a message and let me know!
