Hi guys! I think the whole idea of this website is amazing (well done, Jack Conte) and I'm so excited to play around.
I'd like to take a second to talk about why I think this idea is so cool. Jack, Nataly, Lauren and I have all been making videos for years. We've always put them on youtube for free and that's not going to change. Through posting things on youtube I think we've all developed loyal and generous fans. You guys are so important to me, I never would have believed becoming a working musician was possible without the overwhelming support from all of you.
I think it's important to touch on the fact that no one actually has to pay for music anymore. There's like 0.00001% chance you'd ever encounter consequences from illegally downloading my music. Yet still, plenty of you pay for it. I'm so so so thankful to the people that do, and honestly feel no anger towards the people that don't. I've posted free music on youtube for 7 years because I value your loyalty more than your dollars.
This how I intend to use patreon. You can totally watch my videos for free, but if you think it's worth the same amount as an MP3 or more, you can give me the freedom to work on videos as hard as I have on my albums and tours. I can focus on making content that is worthy of your patronage. I hope you dig this as much as I do. LOVE & HUGS -Julia
