Patron of the Alexandrian (Basic Tier)
Thank you! You'll get early access to supported posts at the Alexandrian. How early? A full month or as soon as I finish writing it, whichever comes later. Plus, your early access content comes in the form of easy-to-download PDF files!
Patron of the Alexandrian (Hangout Tier)
Once each month, I'll hold a Q&A session via Zoom (at a time of my choosing). What will we talk about? I have no idea. You're the ones asking the questions! (The session will last 1 hour or until it gets awkward, whichever comes first.)
After your first month I'll write an article or review about a specific topic or subject you choose. (Subject to approval.) Your request superpower will refresh every year. (If you set a monthly maximum, the frequency of refresh will be prorated accordingly.)
About Justin Alexander
My name is Justin Alexander. I'm a writer of things. I make my digital home over at the Alexandrian, which serves as a repository for my thoughts, my writing, my reviews, and my gaming.
Over the years I've written a number of essays about roleplaying games for the Alexandrian which people seem to find nifty. These include stuff like:
- D&D: Calibrating Your Expectations
- Three Clue Rule
- Node-Based Scenario Design
- Don't Prep Plots
- Jaquaying the Dungeon
- 101 Curious Items
- Game Mastery 101
- RPG System Cheat Sheets
Since 2015 the wonderful generosity of my patrons have helped make all this possible by giving me the time necessary to create it! This Patreon allows me to spend less time scrabbling and more time bringing the nifty back to the Alexandrian.
There are two ways you can support the Alexandrian:
PER POST: Simply set a per post contribution. The goal is for the Alexandrian to update on a schedule of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday every week. This translates to 12-13 new posts, which usually means at least 20,000 words per month.
MONTHLY: If you'd rather make a flat monthly contribution (regardless of how many posts I actually make), simply donate that amount AND set that amount as your monthly maximum.
The goal is for the Alexandrian to update on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week. This translates to 12-13 posts per month, which usually means about 20,000 to 30,000 words of content.
(Patreon used to allow micro-payments per post, which was great and easy all the way around. Hopefully the monthly payment option will still give you an affordable way of supporting the site.)
You’ll never pay for all the other content that gets scheduled around the long-form essays, the in-depth reviews, and the awesome game resources that make up the Monday-Wednesday-Friday content. That includes features like Thoughts of the Day, Check This Out, Shakespeare Sunday, and the RPGNet archive reviews. All of that stuff is just a bonus: You don’t have to pay for it, but you’ll still get to hear me blather on about Star Trek's Prime Directive or ponder the application of Three Point Plotting to RPG scenario design.
