I am a science illustrator and naturalist located in the Northeastern US. I do a lot of bird art and work in traditional and contemporary styles to create images that share the intricacies of nature and the individuality of its wild inhabitants.
This Patreon is brand new. I will be using this space to share works in progress, experimental works, Photoshop downloads (mostly brushes and textures), tutorials, and videos. Your pledges will help me devote more time to my personal projects and allow me to connect more with my followers — thank you!
About my workMy focus at this time is on understanding local animals and habitats in my area. I am interested the common and everyday sorts of plants and animals we pass by in our daily lives and the wild areas among our neighborhoods that need protection from human development. After working as a wildlife rehabilitator for 7 years I have witnessed all of the conflicts between humans and animals that occur all around us as we try to learn to share our spaces with one another. Every animal I have ever worked with is an individual with unique presence and importance, and I strive to illustrate my subjects with the same depth and character that I have known in them personally. By expressing this I hope to inspire compassion and appreciation for them and their world so we can see local wildlife as an extension of our own community.
I enjoy working in a range of styles and mediums, I will share both traditional media and digital work here. I primarily work with gouache, watercolor, and acrylic mixed media, and for digital artwork I use Photoshop CC and a WACOM Intuos 4 tablet. I also do a lot of sketching and my sketchbook will be prominently featured in my posts here. Resources and tutorials for both traditional and digital media will be a part of my Patreon posts for contributors. There will also be public posts with general updates and additional free content.
About the rewardsI will post at least one free post available to non-patrons per month to check in with news and show recently completed projects, and occasionally I will include free mini-tutorials and selected brush/texture downloads in public posts. I want to share a bit with all of my supporters; even if you are unable to be a patron your support as a follower means a lot to me and I want to share my work with you.
